Pergamon

Pergamon

Our reconstruction of Pergamon in the Hellenistic and Roman Imperial times. In the Delphi project we saw Pergamene architecture beyond its homeland; we hereby evaluate it in its birthplace.

Anasynthesis is the home for a range of articles and publications featuring 3D reconstructions of Greek (and Roman) sanctuaries and temples. All our articles are written by academic archaeologists, historians and specialists in Greek and Roman antiquity.

Recent article updates include revised renders of Delphi and the sanctuary of Asclepius that implement new editorial decisions on architecture.

Anasynthesis publishes articles on antiquity. Our aim is to produce a series of online publications that raises the profile and understanding of Greek culture, architecture and history to students, historians, architects and also the public. By using the latest research to build 3D models we explore how these buildings looked, functioned and worked in classical antiquity.

Our digital 3D reconstructions have featured in international print publications. In the USA these include: the Thymele at Epidauros. In ’A History of Greek Art’ by Mark D. Stansbury-O’Donnell, the sanctuary of Asklepius and Thymele are included. In Japan: Toyo University featured our reconstruction of the Acropolis and Parthenon in their publication: ‘The illustrated Life of the Ancient Greeks’. The Liebieghaus Museum in Frankfurt. The Latvian National Museum of Art and the Open University (UK) have licenced our reconstructions for both online and internal exhibitions as well as educational publication.

The Rachel Kousser publication: 'Alexander at the End of the World' A biography of Alexander the Great’s final years has featured the reconstruction of the lighthouse of Alexandria.

Classicist Natalie Haynes explores the powerful enduring myth of Demeter and Persephone in a two part documentary on History Hit featuring our model of the Telesterion and Sanctuary of Demeter rendered in HD animation especially for the broadcast.

Marvin W. Kushnet has featured anasynthesis temple of Athena Nike in an article for the publication KOINON entitled: 'Nike Apteros' - Images of the Wingless Deity in Literature, Sculpture, Vase Painting and Numismatics,

Delphi is featured in 'ERGASTERIA' - Premises and Processes of Creation in Antiquity Edited by Elena C. Partida and Constanze Graml. Archaeopress Archaeology.
